PASTORAL SUPPORT
Pastoral Support in most schools is a broad term that encompasses everything from helping a student through a family breakdown, school refusal, mental health crisis and more.
As well as classroom teachers, most schools will have designated staff who are responsible for delivering pastoral support to specific cohorts of students. These roles include: Housemasters, Year Advisors and school psychologists. Increasingly, the responsive support provided by these staff is complemented by proactive whole school ‘wellbeing’ programs overseen by one or more staff members.
I work with school pastoral teams to ensure that the school’s response to the most common pastoral scenarios is consistent, timely and effective.
And the key to consistency is solid level of contextual knowledge for what common issues look like and structured processes for responding to each.
I’d welcome the chance to work with your school or discuss your needs in more detail.
